Become a Member
You don’t have to own a historic home to become a member of the Monrovia Historic Preservation Group. You don’t even have to live in Monrovia! If you’re interested in architecture, history, restoration skills or meeting others with the same interests, MOHPG would welcome you as a member.
Our Mission Statement
The Monrovia Historic Preservation Group (MOHPG) seeks to preserve Monrovia's architectural heritage through advocacy and actions that promote historic preservation.
Benefits of Membership
When you become a member, you will receive a regular, monthly newsletter (except August) with current information about the group and its activities, and you can attend monthly programs, which cover a wide-ranging list of topics and interests. Programs are often held in members' homes covering various topics of interest. Within the past year they have included: a tour of a Monrovia Craftsman whose owners are working to make it energy independent, a special tour of John Moran Auctioneers in Monrovia, a presentation on the care of oak trees, a tour of the Batchelder tile exhibit at the Pasadena Museum of History, the annual meeting which featured Craig Jimenez from the city addressing the new building/demolition regulations, a visit to the Hollyhock in Los Angeles, and a presentation on Monrovia's first houses. In May 2014 MOHPG sponsored a workshop on landmarking that was open to the public as well as MOHPG members.
Members have access to the Resource Directory, a listing of businesses and craftsmen whose skills are in demand for homeowners restoring their vintage homes. The only way to be included in the directory is by referral from an MOHPG member. The directory can be found in the members-only section of this website.
NOTE: Membership runs from January 1 to December 31.
