Current Landmarks
The City of Monrovia designated its first local landmark on June 4, 1996, naming the home at 231 N. Primrose Avenue as Historic Landmark #1. Currently there have been a total of 169 such designations, all of them for structures except Historic Landmark #36 (the Boxx Jewelers' street clock on Myrtle Avenue), Historic Landmark #159 (the Farmers Club drinking fountain in Library Park, and Historic Landmark #162 (the Library Park bandshell). The oldest structure in Monrovia still standing is HL #82, the C.O. Monroe house, located at 225 Monroe Place. It was built in 1884.
